Kirchberg bei Mattighofen/Upper Austria: Two months ago, Eastalent-Racing disclosed a new orientation for the 2023 racing season. Team owner Peter Reicher announced that the Eastalent team is looking for new challenges. The step into the international GT Open seems to be just right. Peter Reicher explains why the GT Open is so attractive: “First and foremost, the selection of international circuits is excellent. The GT Open tracks simply suit the GT3 cars better. The fact that we will probably be the only ones racing with an Audi R8 evo II is an enticing experience for us. Above all, we’re looking forward to working closely with Audi.”
One question has remained unanswered until now: Who will actually drive the Eastalent Audi? Many have expected Simon Reicher, son of the team owner. The junior talent is excited about the upcoming challenges: “I’m really looking forward to the new season. We have taken the next step and repositioned ourselves in terms of equipment and staff. The first test in Barcelona already showed that this could work particularly well in the GT Open. We were very satisfied with our performance. The challenge lies in leaving our own comfort zone. Neither the team nor I know some of the circuits on the calendar, but these unknowns attract us to the challenge. It’s a novelty for all of us. Even though the series and some circuits are new to us, if we perform we don’t have to hide. Furthermore, we can’t assess the other teams yet. We will do our best and then see where we stand throughout the season. I’m particularly excited to work with my new teammate. He will be a great asset for all of us.”
Eastalent is very excited and honored to welcome renowned Audi sport driver Christopher Haase to the team. His list of successes seems endless. With Audi, the 35-year-old won countless titles and championships. Christopher Haase looks forward to this new engagement: “I am very happy to start this year together with Eastalent-Racing in the well-known and highly competitive GT Open. I am also very happy to share the Audi R8 evo II with Simon Reicher. We already know each other from other series and the chemistry is right. I can’t wait for our first race.
